Our services are based on my 3 Pillars of Nonprofit Success
Asking the right questions, then listening carefully, is the starting point to finding solutions.
Management & Board Leadership
It all starts here. What is the makeup of your leadership team? Do you have the right people in the right places? Have there been recent changes in leadership (paid or volunteer)? Do they understand their roles and their boundaries? Are their priorities in alignment? How are they working together? Do they communicate consistently and thoughtfully? How do they decide what is shared with other stakeholders? Who makes the final decisions? You will not be able to maximize success unless the Leadership team is working as one.
Strategic & Tactical Planning
"If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” This area of work for a nonprofit can be tricky business. Missing just a few steps can waste your time, effort and money. It can also alienate your stakeholders. Failing to ensure that the plan stays alive and active can do the same. That’s why every good plan has elements of follow-up and follow through. So how do we get started? Who writes the plan? Who participates in the process? What exactly should the process be? How long should we plan for? 3 years? 5 years? Once it's completed, what can and cannot be changed in our plan? How do we make sure it stays “alive?”
Fundraising & Development
Without money, the most compelling mission will be very difficult to achieve. It is rare to see a successful organization operate without adequate revenue. So how do you build that budget? How do you grow that budget? How can you get more donors? How can you get more donors to give more money? What’s the difference between Fundraising and Development? And finally, the question that everybody asks: "Who’s going to do it?!"
